online safety

Skills for Protecting Families from Internet Threats.

An online course offering real solutions

The Internet Safety for Educators certificate program is now available for Washington State University Academic Credit!

Even before they enter Kindergarten, children know to look up and down the street before crossing.

Unfortunately, not even most high school students know to "look both ways" when maneuvering the Internet, and increasingly, teachers are responsible for educating children about Internet safety.

Washington State University’s Center for Distance and Professional Education, in partnership with internationally-recognized Internet safety expert Linda Criddle, has developed a new online course, Internet Safety for Educators.

The course will teach you about:

  • Online predatory behavior including how predators choose their victims
  • What information individuals actually divulge online
(vs. what information they think they are sharing)
  • Minimizing risks while using popular internet products
(instant messaging, blogging, social networking, etc).
  • Safe internet use in the classroom, and
  • much more!
